What does PUW mean?

PUW is simply shortened down from the word pop up waste. A pop up waste is used in basin’s where you may have a two tap hole a single tap hole and then you would have a mixer basin tap. You may then in pop up waste have the slotted and un-slotted pop up waste. Un-slotted mean that your basin may have an overflow and therefore doesn’t require the slot to allow the overflow water to get in to. And slotted pop up waste is when you have two slots on the body of the pop up waste where the overflow water can get into. If you are unsure as to what kind of pop up waste you require either an un-slotted or a slotted waste then feel free to contact our customer service team and they will guide you through each step as to whether you require slotted or un-slotted waste.

Within waste you can choose to have a pop up waste, flip waste or a click clack waste. A pop up waste is operated via a lever at the back of a tap. A flip waste is operated simply by flipping the swivel bit at the top of the flip waste. Last but not least you have the click clack waste where you simply click onto the waste and it will pop open and then you click it again and it closes, this then allows the water to go down the waste.

Make sure that if you require a pop up waste, that you buy a basin tap that has a whole at the tap. The best way to make sure is to confirm this when you’re buying your basin from us as we will know which tap has a hole at the back and which basin tap doesn’t. If the tap that you want to buy doesn’t have a pop up waste lever hole at the back then you can still use the other two options either the flip waste or the click clack waste.

The pop up waste, click clack waste and the flip waste are all modern chrome plated, this will make sure that it doesn’t erode over time with contact with water and is a sign of quality materials and workmanship.

If you don’t like any of the waste such as the pop up waste, click clack waste or the flip waste then you may want to look into the traditional way of the plug and chain option. We sell the modern chrome plated plug and chain or you can have the black rubber plug and chain, a decision that we believe is left for you to add the finishing touches to any bathroom, old or newly refurbished. You will find a plug and chain commonly used in the kitchen, a finishing touch to add to your new kitchen taps that will make sure that when anyone walks into your kitchen that your sink is the first point where anyone will go due the modern look and shiny feeling.

We sell all the waste options in our taps shop under the waste category and remember if you get stuck on buying a tap from us or you can’t decide what waste you should have on your brand new basin then contact our customer service team and they will point you in the right direction.
